The Tow Ready Multi-Plug T-One Assembly, part # 20135, you have referenced will only fit the 2001 Dodge Ram Van that has an existing factory 7-Way connector on the vehicle. It is to be used as a 4-Way and 7-Way replacement for the factory 7-Way on the vehicle.

If your 2001 Dodge Ram Van has the factory square plug for the wiring harness at the rear of the vehicle, you will need the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118381, and the Hopkins Adapter, part # 37185.

You will need to plug in the # 118381 to the factory plug on your van. This will give you a 4-way on your vehicle. Then, plug the # 37185 adapter into the 4-Way and this will give you a 7-Way and a 4-Way connector. After plugging in your 4-Way to the back of the # 37185 adapter there will be four extra wires that will need to be hardwired to your vehicle.

The four remaining wires will need to be hardwired to the corresponding circuits on the vehicle. The white (ground) wire will need to be attached to the vehicle frame, the black (12 volt power) wire is connected to the vehicles battery with 10 gauge wire like the # 10-1-1, through a 40-amp circuit breaker # 9510, the blue (trailer brake) wire will be connected to the blue trailer brake feed wire on the brake controller, and the purple ( auxiliary) wire is for reverse lights if you need that circuit. If any of these connections are not needed just wire tie them up out of the way for future use.

I am including a link to a video of the # 118381 wiring harness being installed on a Dodge Ram Van along with a link to the installation instructions. Also, a video link of the # 37185 adapter being installed on a Dodge Ram truck. The vehicle is different but the installation would be the same.
