Question:
Can the Blue OX Alpha work with Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate. Would I need any other parts for 2012 Chevy Equinox?

Expert Reply:
In order for your Blue Ox Alpha to work with the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plates, part # RM-523160-4, you need an adapter like part # RM-032.
In addition to the tow bar and base plates, you will need a system to join the tail lights of the motorhome to the tail lights of the towed vehicle. You will also need safety cables, and in many states, a supplemental braking system.
The easiest lighting system to use is the Roadmaster Bulb and Socket Kit, part # RM-155. This kit is easy to install, an additional bulb passes through a hole drilled in the rear of each tail light assembly. Using this kit also allows the wiring of the RV to remain completely independent of the towed vehicle.
I prefer a coiled safety cable like part # RM-643. Coiled cables are less likely to drag and become damaged from road rash than straight cables.
A supplemental braking system like the Roadmaster Even Brake, part # RM-9400 is required by law in many states. The Even Brake is a proportional system that allows the RV and vehicle brakes to work in tandem for safe, predictable braking.
Although my research indicates that the 2012 Equinox is capable of being flat towed, I would recommend consulting your owners manual or GM for any procedures, recommendations or prohibitions regarding flat towing the vehicle.
I have provided links to several FAQ articles that contain information you might find helpful.
