Removal of Black Plastic Covering on Underside of 2011 Toyota Camry to Install Hitch
Updated 02/21/2012 | Published 02/15/2012 >
Question:
I am looking to purchase # 36416 for my 2011 Toyota Camry SE V6. On my car I have a large black trim piece that goes from the rear facia and covers most of the spare tire well. After installation will this trip piece be reinstalled so that the holes and bolts are not visible from underneath? Thanks, Vdrive

I believe you are speaking of the plastic cover shown in the video I have linked to. Before the hitch installation, the cover is removed and is not re installed after the hitch is in place. Once the hitch is installed, the plastic cover will no longer fit on the Camry. Because the hitch needs to be in direct metal to metal contact with the underside of the vehicle once it is installed, the hitch cannot be installed over the cover.
