Question:

Hi! I need a tow package with wiring for my 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack. I would prefer a two inch receiver. We will be using this to pull a small trailer and for a bike rack so we want it to be relatively versatile. It looks like you have what we need, but if you could recommend what the best total package Thanks so much!

The towing package for a vehicle will generally consist of a trailer hitch and trailer wiring harness. As you mentioned, the 2" receiver tube will be a far more versatile option in regards to both towing and hitch mounted accessories like a bike rack. The only trailer hitch with a 2" receiver tube that is offered for your 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7315. That said, the EcoHitch is in my eyes one of the best on the market because they retain a hidden design that does not take any of the aesthetics away from the vehicle (see photo). There is also no drilling required for installation.

For a trailer wiring harness, the best option we have for you is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118730 which is plug an play so no splicing is required and we have found that the Tekonsha brand is the most reliable. The only other thing that you will need to tow a trailer is a ball mount/hitch ball, I recommend the Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.
