Is Thule Trail XT Cargo Basket a Good Choice for 2019 Subaru Ascent with Factory Crossbars

Question:

I have a 2019 Subaru Ascent Touring with the Subaru Ascent Aero Crossbar Set, Subaru part number SOA843X010. Im thinking of buying a Thule Trail XT Roof Cargo Basket with exterior dimensions of 63inch x 39-1/2inch x 7inch because it looks great, and I need the added luggage capacity. Im also thinking of buying a Rhino-Rack Rooftop Cargo Bag - Waterproof - 17.5 cu ft - 59inch x 43inch x 11-1/2. This bag will be 6 inches wider than the interior width of the basket, which is listed at 37. Will this be a problem? Do you like the Trail as a high end cargo basket, and do you see any issue with mounting it on the Subaru Crossbars?

The Thule Trail XT part # TH865XT is a really nice cargo basket that is confirmed as a fit for the factory crossbars of your 2019 Subaru Ascent as well. While the Rhino Rack Cargo Bag part # RRLB500 is slightly different dimensionally it will still fit and work well. It is a bag so any width or length can easily just be pushed in. This bag would be a really great option with plenty of cargo space at 17.5 cubic feet of space and is considered to be waterproof as well which means your cargo will be kept dry.
