Location of Hitch Pin Hole on Curt Hitch C11436 for Chevy Volt
Updated 05/31/2019 | Published 05/29/2019 >
Question:
You say on the site somewhere that this Volt hitch is 5.5 inches from the center of the hole to the edge of the car. Is this accurate? From that I can measure if my current bike rack will clear the car. Thanks!

In our install video for Curt Hitch # C11436 we do note that when installed on the 2017 Volt shown in the video the center of the hitch pin hole was 5-1/4-inches forward of the rear edge of the bumper cover. That video is linked for reference; please refer to the 2:18 mark.
The hitch pin hole is used as the referenced point since bike rack makers also use this point to express their racks' clearance requirement dimension. For instance, if your hitch bike rack's hitch pin hole were to be 6-1/4-inches forward of the nearest part of the carrier this would mean that there is a 1-inch clearance margin between the rack and bumper cover when installed in this hitch.
