Do the Kwikee Steps Need To Be Extended While Installing the 25 Series Step Replacement Kit
Updated 05/14/2019 | Published 05/11/2019 >
Question:
My Motorhome is a 2014 Forest River Georgetown 328TS. I have a series 25 replacement kit ordered. #LC379804 I believe. Im guessing the step should be in the completely extended position and the motor connected to electricity and in the position of step extended before attaching the linkage. Correct? Im guessing the motor will stop in the completely open position and wont run off the end of the gearing. Correct? Is any adjustment of stops necessary after doing it this way to prevent unnecessary wear on motor and gear caused by motor trying to run longer or shorter than it should?

I spoke to my contact at Lippert about installing the Lippert Components Kwikee Step Replacement Kit part # LC379804 on your Kwikee 25 Series Steps. They informed me that you will need to install the above components while the step is fully extended. The wiring connections will not then be made until all of the components are in place. If you take a look at the top of the gear you will see a pin that attaches to an arm on the step itself and this is responsible for preventing the motor from running off of the gear. There will be no adjustments to this stop.
