Question:
Hi, I reviewed questions and eTrailer expert answers related to an R class hitch installation. The thread below caused a bit of confusion: https://www.etrailer.com/question-117319.html. My 2011 should be electrically the same as the 2012 model covered in this question. The experts response includes the statement that no wiring kit is recommended for this model and the Mercedes dealership should be contacted. However, when I search your website for a wiring kit the following product is offered: Item # 119250KIT. Can you please help clarify which statement is correct? Thanks

The answer you referenced is from early 2015 and will be updated because we have since learned the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT is a fit for your 2011 R-Class Mercedes-Benz.
The zero contact interface uses sensors to capture the signal on your wires so they are uninterrupted and yet the powered modulite can transfer the signal to your trailer wiring functions. It is a great option for you if you are seeking to do light towing of if you have a lighted accessory you are needing trailer wiring for. It does require power from your battery so I've attached an article to help with routing that power wire.
