Question:

Is there a 2 bike rack with carrier platform on a swing out frame? I have a Ram Promaster 3500 Van. I want to carry 2 bikes and a Weber Q small grill. but it needs to swing out of the way so the back doors can be opened. all together it would weigh less than 100 lbs. I have searched but have not found anything like this except the tilting model . Thanks

We have the perfect solution for you to use a bike rack and cargo carrier that can swing away for use on the 2" hitch on your 2018 Ram ProMaster 3500.

What you can do is use the Swagman Skaha 2 Plus Bike Rack with Cargo Carrier for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches # S69SR and add the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks # Y02483.

If you take a look at the accompanying photo of the dimensions of the BackSwing you can see its dimensions and how far away it will swing out; you can use this to help determine if it will allow you to fully open the rear doors on your ProMaster. The only thing to keep in mind is that the use of this or other adapters will reduce the capacity of the hitch on your ProMaster by 50 percent, including the tongue weight so you will want to be sure the total weight of the rack, carrier, bikes and grill stays under that weight.
