Question:

How much room is need to install brakes on a 2000 lb axle .it has 4 on 4 hub pattern . Need to know the distance from the brake bracket to the end of the spindle . I have about 3 inch from the hub now to the leaf spring Thanks

The Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-2R for 2,000 lb axles does not require any additional space because it measures 7" diameter x 1-1/4" wide and will fit directly in a hub and drum assembly such as the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # 8-257-5UC3. The distance from the mounting bracket such as # 4-34 and spindle is going to depend entirely on what spindle you have and it is not a dimension I would be able to provide.

The mounting bracket will be directly behind the spindle so as long as you get the correct hub and drum that fits your spindle these brakes will work. To find this you can take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper to measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride.

You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.

Also, keep in mind the # AKEBRK-2R is the right hand assembly so if you need the left hand the correct part is # AKEBRK-2L; you will need the Mounting Hardware for 7" Single Brake Assembly # BRKH7S for installation. To install both brake assemblies you will need two of this hardware kit.
