Can I Use the Rear 12 Volt Power Outlet To Install the Curt T-Connector on a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

Most of these kits need to run a wire to the battery. Why cant you just tap off of the 12v power outlet in the cargo compartment of the vehicle? Item # C56184

If you do not have the factory tow package on your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe then you will need to run a power wire from the trailer wiring harness to the battery. The power wire will then take the strain off of the vehicle's lighting circuit. The reason that you cannot just splice into the 12 volt power outlet in the rear cargo area is because this most likely does not have the proper amperage rating needed for the trailer wiring harness to function properly. If you choose to do so anyhow then you would not be covered under warranty if anything were to happen.

For your Hyundai Santa Fe, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56184 is a confirmed fit and there is no splicing required.
