Question:
I ordered two ultra fab universal access door with the intention of putting one in the rear door of my enclosed cargo trailer.... the doors claim water resistance but not water proof.... is there any thing I can do to increase the protection of the inside core of my door? Also is there a corresponding trim piece I could add to the inside of the door?

You can seal the frame of the door with TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant part # 0160299. I contacted Ultra-fab and the access door part # UF48-979010 is not considered waterproof or water resistant. They also do not have a seal or gasket available. The sealant can be applied on the back of the access door frame to create a waterproof seal between the door and the trailer wall during installation or around the door frame to create a waterproof seam once the access door is installed.
Ultra-fab mentioned you can add a thin 3/16 inch foam weather stripping to the actual door (the portion that opens) to add extra protection around the door creases but it would need to be very thin in order to allow the door to close. We do not carry 3/16 inch foam weather stripping but it is easy to find. It is normally called self adhesive foam weather stripping for small gaps.
