Question:
Can I use this for a Smittybilt xl rooftop tent on my 2004 Chevy Tahoe? Thanks.

Helpful Expert Reply:
A Smittybilt XL tent weighs about 150-lbs without add-ons, so it is within the 165-lb weight capacity of the Malone Roof Rack # MPG216. This rack's 58-inch AirFlow2 load bars are longer than many others and will spread the load across a wider area.
I linked our main page for camping accessories in case you need other items such as camping chairs # 3697910BS, an adjustable folding table like # CAM51893 or an outdoor mat like # FR46341 that will keep the tent interior clean.
It would be a good idea to check with Smittybilt about how much of the tent's weight rests on the roof versus on the ladder and support poles. Keep in mind that the tent weighs 150-lbs without people in it, and with a rated 4-person capacity the total weight can climb quickly. I suggest checking your Tahoe manual for a roof weight capacity too.
