I am not really sure what you mean by a "tow system" as this is a pretty general term but if you are referring to the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar part # RM-520 that you asked the question from then yes, it can be transferred from a Ford Ranger to your 2005 Chevrolet Colorado but you will need a new set of base plates, the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit part # 3122-1.

If you are just asking in general about flat-towing components, then most of the time you can transfer pretty much all of them from one vehicle to another save for the vehicle specific base plate kit. However, the vehicle specific base plate kits are also specific to the tow bar so if you don't have a Roadmaster tow bar then we have two other options for you. If you have a Blue Ox tow bar then you should use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX1656 or if you have a Demco tow bar then you should use the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit part # DM9518171.
