The best aftermarket brake controller you can buy is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195 which will outperform the factory brake controller tenfold. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 is extremely reliable and even if something were to happen not necessarily to the brake controller, it has diagnostic checks to help you find out what the issue is and safeguards to protect your vehicle, trailer and the controller if it were anything serious. The other reason that people like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller so much is that has a very easy to read display which can be a major issues on some brake controllers. The other great feature which I do not believe the factory brake controller can do is store and save settings for up to five trailers.

In order to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 on your 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn you will need to use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers item # 3024-P which makes for a plug and play install. The plug you will need to use is located behind a panel in the dash (see photo).

I have attached a review video of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 for you as well.

Ram did a nice job of hiding the factory harness on the 2020 models. It can be found behind the center dash console, somewhat near the gear shift knob. Take a look at the expert answer I linked below that highlights the general area with a picture.
