Question:
Jeep JL Powertop roof rack options for Roof top tent - Hi there. Ill be picking up my new 2019 4 door JL Rubicon with one touch powertop next week. Im looking for options for a rack that will support the weight of a roof top tent. Im ok with a Gobi style rack if the power top can still be used when its on... or a rain gutter style rack even if I have to not use the powertop when I have the tent on top. Hoping you can provide me with info on what some options may be. Thanks in advance,

There is a way for you to use a rooftop tent with your brand new 2019 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with the Sky One-Touch Power Top but there is not going to be a roof rack that is compatible. The reason for this is that since your Power Top is not a complete hard top there are currently no racks that are a fit; I checked with each of our rack manufacturers and there are currently no fits. It is possible there may be at some point but since this is a new application there is nothing at the moment.
The way you can use a rooftop tent with your new Jeep is with the Yakima EasyRider Utility Trailer # Y08129 and SkyRise Tent Platform # Y08127. This will allow you to use the Yakima SkyRise Tent # Y07436 but it will simply be on the utility trailer as opposed to the top of your '19 Wrangler.
To add this trailer you will simply need a trailer hitch with a 2" receiver and if your '19 Wrangler Unlimited does not have one you can use the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT78MR or Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13392. You'll also need a 4-way if you don't have one, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118786, as well as a ball mount and I recommend checking out the Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill all your towing needs in one tidy package: two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
I've added links to videos of hitch and wiring installs as well as a review of the SkyRise tent for you to take a look at.
