Can Kuat Roof Rack Accessories be Installed on Thule Roof Rack Using T-Slot

Question:

Thanks for the response. It was very helpful. I was more interested in how the ski/snowboard Grip holder would mount on the crossrails rather than the bike carrier. I'm told locally that the board carrier can be modified to utilize the T-Slot so it sits flush on the rails rather than have those clamps which would add too much height for my liking.

The Kuat roof rack accessories just use clamps but they also sit directly onto the crossbars so you would have the same amount of clearance whether they mounted in the T-Slot of Thule aero-style crossbars or not.

For example, the Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack, which comes in Gunmetal Gray # RU01 and Black and Polished Chrome # TR02, sits directly on the roof rack bars and then utilizes clamps that sit under the crossbars for the installation. The overall height you will be adding to the Thule roof rack when just using the bike rack is 1-3/8".

I have attached some pictures and a review video so you can see what I am talking about. If you are looking at a different roof rack accessory just let me know what it is and I can help you find out how much clearance you are looking at.

Thank you for the extra info! Yes, the Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard carriers can be mounted directly to the T-Slots of the Thule aero-style crossbars for a lower profile using the T-Channel Mount Kit # GRDMK this comes with both a smaller spacer (9/16" tall) and a larger spacer (1-5/8" tall). The normal base of the Kuat carriers measures 1-3/4" tall while the rack itself is 2-3/4" tall. If you were to use the larger spacer then your height would be about the same at 4-1/2" overall height but if you used the smaller spacer then your overall height would be about 3-5/16". The Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard carriers come in a large size (6 pairs of skis or 4 boards) with the colors Black # GRR6B, Gray # GRR6G, and Pearl # GRR6P, as well as a smaller size (4 pairs of skis or 2 boards) in the same colors of Black # GRR4B, Gray # GRR4G, and Pearl # GRR4P.
