Question:

I know this has been asked before, but is there any update on any louvered tailgate manufacturers including Stromberg if they can fix their tailgates for cameras? Heck, this is the USA where we are supposed to be the best in the world for engineers and overcoming the weak. Still trying to grasp why these do not exist, especially when these louvered tailgates removes two safety devices backup camera and back up light for the camera from the 2017 Ford F-350. I would hate to purchase any tailgate knowing USAA would reject a backing up claim because I removed safety devices.

A very valid question. There used to be one with an integrated camera and the manufacturer discontinued them. Your best option is to do some engineering yourself to integrate those options.

I recommend the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock for Ford Trucks # VG-15-4000. Then you can use the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 for a separate system at your license plate.

If you want to integrate the camera into the louvered tailgate, you will void warranties, but it can be done. I recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera - Flush Mount # RVS-772 and then Rear View Safety Splice Kit # RVS-SPK01 to convert to factory wiring. For the sensors you can relocate what you have or use the Hopkins Backup Sensor System - Audible Alert - License Bracket Mount # HM60100VA.
