Question:
Installed a new 7-pt trailer connection with brake controller on a 2017 Ford Edge SEL. New trailer has reverse lights, which tested ok on trailer, but no response when attached to the vehicle. Trailer mfg suggested the car doesn’t have the fuse installed for reverse trailer lights. Any ideas if they might be right? If so, any idea what fuse it might be? Any helps is appreciated.

Expert Reply:
Not every vehicle will have the reverse light circuit available for the 7-way. Especially a smaller vehicle like your 2017 Ford Edge. Best option would be to run a wire from the reverse light pin of the 7-way (center pin) to the wire that powers the reverse lights of the vehicle. You'd want to use a quick splice connector like the part # SWC501746-1.
