Jason, thank you for your response. I wish I would have had that information prior to installing the 8600 unit. There is probably nothing I can do at this point?

The Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock - Power - Black # PAL8600 or the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Handle - Power Lock and Manual Lock - Black # PL8675 are both compatible options for your 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The latter option simply includes a key and tumbler for a manual lock and unlock option. The lock will allow the tailgate to open in both directions as designed. Both of these locks come with a 1 year warranty from the date of receipt. The warranty covers defects in material or workmanship. I've attached the installation details that cover this in more specifics and installation videos to assist.

Another question for you pertaining to this product. What happens if the mechanism fails when the tailgate is closed and locked?

If the mechanism fails when the tailgate is closed and locked, then there is an issue with the power lock # PAL8600 that doesn't have the manual lock as well because there isn't a good access point with the tailgate shut. With the manual lock in addition to the power lock # PL8675 you in the worst case situation still have the ability to unlock the tailgate and have an access point to disable the faulty assembly. Neither situation is ideal and I don't know of any issues to this point, but I recommend the power and manual lock for that additional option. Again we haven't had that issue with any of our customers up to this point in time but we do get that question.

Since you have already installed the tailgate lock # PAL8600, you can install the Manual Lock w/ Handle for Pop & Lock Custom Powered Tailgate Lock - Black # PL6250 in combination with it. That will basically give you the manual lock in addition to the power lock and works with the factory camera system.
