It looks like it has balls on each end of the lanyard. How to you fasten to your trailer?

The Buyers Products 1/4" Zinc Plated Safety Pin w/ Lanyard # 3373006875 is designed to work with a pintle hitch like the Buyers Products 30 Ton Heavy-Duty Swivel Type Pintle Hook # 337BP760A where the ball of one end of the lanyard connects to the hitch.
If there is not a connection like this on your hitch or trailer, then you will be better off with a different style pin like the Draw-Tite Coupler and Pintle Pin - 1/4" # 63020 with chain.
