Troubleshooting Remote Disconnecting from Blue Ox Patriot Braking System
Updated 01/28/2020 | Published 01/22/2019 >
Question:
Hi, Our Blue Ox system has worked great pulling the Jeep Grand Cherokee behind our 36’ diesel pusher motorhome. However we have had issues with the remote showing a connection, and then indicating there is no connection Brake unit not found — Turn On Brake - shown on the display. Then after some time, the proper operational display returns. It comes and goes erratically. I have moved the RF remote from the center console to the drivers side window and that seemed to help a little. But still the signal reception is erratic. Is there a signal booster available like with the TPMS system? It is my understanding the brake system operates independently - so it will work as needed without the RC remote connected. Is this correct? Any suggestions to help the RF remote sensor signal function reliably? Thanks,

I spoke with my contact at Blue Ox who said that the they haven't had any calls come in yet about the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR having issues with the remote connecting to the main unit but that the original Patriot did have a connection issue that was not unheard of. Unfortunately there isn't a signal booster available.
Regardless, the solution would be the same. She said to move it as close to the driver's side window as possible (which you already did) and then you can try raising it higher as well. Sometimes it only takes an inch or so to gain a better signal though so you will want to move it in small increments to determine where the best location for the controller is.
You are correct that the unit will still function even if the remote is disconnected.
