Replacement Boat Trailer Tire and Wheel Recommendation that is 225/75R15 with 6 Lug Wheel
Published 01/22/2019 >
Question:
I probably dont have the best match up for my boat and trailer but trying to see if it will work. I have a rinker 270 which is a 7600 dry weight I/o 27foot boat. I have a tandem 10000 aluminum trailer tires that were on it were 225/75r15 and were badly worn. I replaced and they quickly wore..I rebuilt the brakes, new bearings and races. My son in law gave me a set of take off tires and wheels from a new boat purchase and they are e rated. I have had the tread separate on two of them- they are not staying together as well as the d rated tires. They wore bad but did not separate. I have not looked up the age. You have a 235/16E ac16r65m contender which is a 6 lug wheel that sounds like it would fit my hub. I just wonder if I need to go that far or perhaps just buy better tires for the setup I have? Thoughts?

When picking out replacement tires for a trailer you really just need to match the size, go with a Load Range that is adequate for the trailer weight, and then pick a reliable brand. Your situation sounds like the take-off tires were too old or otherwise compromised. Going with the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel # TA57VR that you referenced would be an excellent choice. These have the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. These even come with a 2-year warranty on the tires and wheels.
