Wiring Needed to Install Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller on 1996 Isuzu Trooper
Published 01/18/2019 >
Question:
Dear Customer Support, I purchased from you 7pin ETBC7 kit for my Isuzu Trooper 1996 and as I am starting to lay everything out, i realized this kit is for the standard trailer config and not the RV trailer, which has a different wire color scheme. Can you advise if I can still use this kit with the rv 7 pin in my trailer and the prodigy P2 brake controller I also purchase from you. Thank you in advance for your assistance and prompt response. Kindly,

Expert Reply:
The Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 that you referenced is indeed what you need to install a fully functional 7-Way on your 1996 Isuzu Trooper so that you can install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 to power the trailer's electric brakes. It is okay that the wire colors for the included 7-Way connector do not match up to the wire colors used on your trailer. The pins on the connector will still match up to the pins on the trailer's 7-Way connector with regards to function.
Just keep in mind that this wiring kit is designed to plug into an existing 4-Way on the vehicle. If your Isuzu Trooper is not already equipped with a 4-Way you will want to first install one with the Tekonsha T-One Harness # 118339. This is a custom harness that will simply plug into a factory port on the driver's side at the rear attached to a grommet between the wheel well and bumper.
I have attached a wiring diagram that you can check out as well.
