I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2002 Mazda Protege5 and it states to install tire chains on the front tires only. The manual also says to use only SAE Class S chains which is simply a designation that indicates those that work well for vehicles like yours that don't have a lot of wheel well clearance to work with.
For the 205/50R16 size tires on your Protege5 I recommend looking at the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC1535. These Class S rated diamond-pattern chains will provide excellent traction in the snow and ice and the integrated tensioners allow for a tight fit around the tires.
I have attached a short install video that you can use for reference.
