If I install this on my 20ft cargo trailer is there just a basic plug I can connect the A/C to an extension cord or does this have to be hard wired in?

There is not a standard plug available that would allow you to plug the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACM135 right to an extension cord. The unit will need to be hardwired using the included wiring and hardware. I have attached the complete installation instructions that you can use for reference.

To complete the installation you will also need a ceiling vent and thermostat like part # ACDB.
