Question:

hi there, maybe you have addressed this, but I have an early 2012 abarth with a suitcase muffler. Will this fit? Also what cargo carrier would you recommend for this? I dont want the exhaust melting my cargo bags. Thanks!

For your 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth the Curt hitch part # C11347 that you referenced is a confirmed fit. I checked with Curt and they do not exclude the fit for any version of the Abarth like yours. We installed the Curt cargo carrier part # C18145 in the hitch of a similar 2013 Fiat 500 and we found that the exhaust opening was 5-1/2 inches from where the cargo bag would most likely be so instead I would recommend the Curt carrier part # C18110 which has a rise built into the shank to get the hitch platform higher than the exhaust and also has a rear platform edge that will work to protect the cargo as well. It also sticks out much further too which the added distance helps the exhaust cool down before contact.

You'll need a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 to help brace the carrier per Curt's requirements for the hitch. See attached video.
