According to the owner's manual for the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # TK94FR, "The Prodigy RF may operate with reduced performance if the Remote Hand Held Unit is removed or disconnected while the trailer is in use". However, I called Tekonsha and they stated that no damage would have been done to the unit or trailer as a result of the hand held unit coming unplugged. You will be just fine if you plug it back in as there is nothing special you will need to do.
