Can Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch be Installed on Its Side and Still Work Properly

Do u think the winch would spool properly of mounted on its side?

Since gravity will be playing a role I don't think that the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL14881 will spool properly if you were to mount it on its side. Maybe if you were able to guide the cable by hand but it wouldn't be wise to put your hand near the gears while working the winch.
