Question:
Can you tilt the yakima ridgeback when fully loaded with bikes?

Expert Reply:
Hanging bike racks like the Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike part # Y02458 can't be tilted when bikes are loaded to give you cargo space access. The anti-sway cradles that hold the bike frame vertically are not designed to hold that much weight as the rack would be holding them at an odd angle and the bikes would also bump into each other at that angle. You might be better off with a swinging bike rack as they are designed to swing out with bikes loaded to give you access to the rear of the vehicle while the bikes remain upright.
Yakima has the # Y02465 which would work well for this. I've attached a video to help with the visual and illustrate how this is done.
