The Edge EZ for Dodge Cummins 5.9L, 24V, # EZD1000A, is not a programmer that will allow you to make adjustments to allow more or less soot from the exhaust. What it will do is add horsepower and torque and it will also increase fuel economy and improve shifting. However, the addition of more power can also increase fuel consumption which will produce more soot on its own. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
You are more likely to get more soot if you used a programmer like the Edge Juice with Attitude, # EP31501. With the various power levels it can be set to, the additional output will naturally produce more soot.
