Question:
I have a new 2011 Toyota Sienna van equippted with the towing prep.option. This option has the trailer wiring already wired with a T-type white and blue quick connector. Does this C56106 just plug into the existing connector no cutting or splicing and a 4 pole flat trailer connector at other end?

Expert Reply:
All of the available trailer wiring harness available for a 2011 Toyota Sienna, including the CURT wiring, # C56106, install by connecting in line with the tail light wiring connectors located behind each of the vehicle tail lights. A power wire will also need to be run from the converter box of the wiring harness to the positive battery terminal via the in line fuse.
No wires will have to be spliced into on the vehicle. The only cutting that will be done is on the power wire of the harness to attach the in line fuse holder.
The power wire provides the power for the trailer lights virtually eliminating the trailer on the vehicle wiring system. This protects the vehicle wiring should there be any short circuit situation that could otherwise damage the vehicle electrical system.
I have included a link to the installation details for the CURT wiring harness for you to review.
