For your 2016-2018 GMC Sierra 1500, I recommend starting with the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-3177-3 and then using the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - RV Mount - 8K # RM-676 which includes the wiring connector and the safety cables needed. This is a really nice tow bar with LED lighting for visibility.

Then for your vehicle wiring, I recommend using the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152. This will connect to the trailer wiring connections that come with the tow bar and will allow you to use your factory wiring in your truck for a clean look that still protects your factory electronics. I also recommend using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766 to give you the convenience of push button disconnection instead or pulling fuses or manually disconnecting the battery. It is also a really good idea to use a charge line kit like # RM-156-25 to maintain your vehicle battery when towing it so it maintains the charge needed to go sightseeing when you arrive at your campsite.

For your braking system I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This kit only requires adjustment at installation and then is a simple plug and play operation. It is by far the most popular option for reliability and ease of use to give you braking at the same time and with the same amount of pressure as you hit your brake pedal.

Finally, you will also need a high-low adapter for the proper ride height. I've attached an article and linked the page to your options to make it simple.

A couple of extra nice things to have for safety and preventative measures are the Roadmaster Tow Bar Cover # RM-055-3 for storage on the back of your motorhome and the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750 which prevents debris and rocks from hitting your truck. This installs to the tow bar and will track with you around corners.
