Will Hanging Bike Racks Damage Bike Frame or Paint
Published 10/18/2018 >
Question:
Have you noticed this hitch rubbing the frame paint off long term?

Expert Reply:
The padding on the frame cradles of the Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack # Y02458 that you referenced are specially designed to minimize any frame or paint damage but anytime there's contact on a painted surface it's possible that scratching could occur. Especially if the bike and rack isn't kept clean. The best solution is a bike rack that only touches the bikes at the wheels and not the frame at all like the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Tilting # SA4026F.
