The recommended ball mount for the Curt trailer hitch # C11054 that fits your 2005 VW Passat is the Curt Drawbar # C45521.
For a hitch ball that fits you will need either 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # A-80 or 2" Hitch Ball # A-82, depending on the size of your trailer's coupler; you will also need Pin and Clip # F-4 to secure the ball mount to your Passat's hitch.
To add wiring which will give your VW a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # C59496.
