How to Activate 12V Power Pin on a 2011 GMC Sierra 7-Way Connector
Updated 10/09/2018 | Published 10/08/2018 >
Question:
Bought a new trailer 2 days ago, was told to put a fuse in to make the interior light work. I have a 2011 GMC Sierra and put the fuse in Stud 1 location. Still did not work. I checked all the fuses under the hood, all good. I saw on a previous post, If you happen to have a Chevy or GMC truck, there may be some connections under the hood you have to make to make everything fully functional. What connections are there I need to make?

Yes, if you are looking to activate the 12V power function on your 7-Way connector, like the part # PK11916, then you may need to connect the 12V power wire to the front of the power distribution box.
If you check out the attached photo you can see that it should be taped up to a wire harness under the power brake booster. The fuse will also need to be connected in the power distribution box but by the sounds of it you have already made this connection.
I have attached a helpful article where the steps to do this are detailed and there are more pictures included to help demonstrate this process for your 2011 GMC Sierra.
