Question:
Hi, My RV 2006 Skyline Layton 228 LTD does not have black, grey or potable water level sensors, nor a battery level indicator. Can I purchase sensors and a display panel? If so, what models good, better and best do you recommend? Thanks

We do not have any monitoring system for your water levels. We do however carry the sensors for the tanks that will connect to those monitoring systems. You can make your own system without a monitor with a simple light connected to a battery. You would simply connect power to the lowest level sensor an then mount a sensor at the desired level or levels and connect the positive wire of the light to the sensor and the ground of the light to any grounded metal surface. I recommend using a light like the amber # MCL11AKB or the red # MCL11RKB because they are small LED lights that draw only 0.03 volts.
The sensors are the Horst Miracle Probe Sensors for RV Black Water Tanks - Qty 4 # T21301VP and the Horst Miracle Probe Sensors for RV Gray Water Tanks - Qty 4 # T21302VP.
These gray water sensors can be used on freshwater tanks. They will still operated the same way. With a monitoring system, the monitor will show a full reading when electricity is flowing between the tank sensors. The circuit is completed when the tank level is high enough to complete the electrical circuit between the sensors. These particular sensors are far less prone to false readings than other options because the probes are surrounded by Teflon to prevent residue buildup on the probe and they are also longer to move further from the side of the tank which often has build up on black and even gray water tanks.
To add the sensors you can drill a 3/8 inch hole, insert the probe and then tighten the nut to create a leakproof seal. once installed, rotate the exterior stud so the flat milled section is aimed ddown which will keep the Teflon roof covering the copper tip of the probe.
