Can the surface handle a hot pan?

The Camco RV Universal Fit Stovetop Cover and Splash Guard # CAM43554 is not designed to put a hot pan on and you should avoid doing so.
The reason is, the cover is a steel surface so while it can "handle" a hot pan it is going to be conducive to the heat of the pan, making the cover very hot as well and potentially damaging the black powder coat on the steel.
