The owner's manual for the 2014 Ford F-150 only shows the gross combined weight rating which is the most that the truck and trailer can weigh together. So I checked the towing guide from Ford for the 2014 model year.
Capacity is also dependent upon the cab style, rear end ratio, and wheelbase:
Regular cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.55 gears, 126 inch wheelbase = 7,600 pounds gross trailer weight
Regular cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.55 gears, 145 inch wheelbase = 8,100 pounds gross trailer weight
Regular cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.73 gears, 126 inch wheelbase = 8,000 pounds gross trailer weight
Regular cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.73 gears, 145 inch wheelbase = 9,700 pounds gross trailer weight
Super Cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.55 gears, 145 inch wheelbase = 7,800 pounds gross trailer weight
Super Cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.55 gears, 163 inch wheelbase = 7,600 pounds gross trailer weight
Super Cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.73 gears, 145 inch wheelbase = 9,400 pounds gross trailer weight
Super Cab, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.73 gears, 163 inch wheelbase = 9,200 pounds gross trailer weight (up to 9,300 pounds with heavy duty payload package)
SuperCrew, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.55 gears, 145 inch wheelbase = 7,700 pounds gross trailer weight
SuperCrew, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.55 gears, 157 inch wheelbase = 7,500 pounds gross trailer weight
SuperCrew, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.73 gears, 145 inch wheelbase = 9,300 pounds gross trailer weight
SuperCrew, 4x4, 5.0 liter, 3.73 gears, 157 inch wheelbase = 9,100 pounds gross trailer weight (up to 9,200 pounds with heavy duty payload package)
Also be sure to check the hitch itself because it could have a lower or higher capacity. Whichever is lower, the truck's capacity or the hitch capacity, is the capacity you will need to go by.
