Recommended Brake Fluid for the Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Part # K71-651

First time bleeding my 2012, 50K mile, purchased new 5th wheel, Dexter Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi, not sure what DOT came with unit. What DOT, 3 or 4, should/can I use? Can the two be mixed?

Dexter recommends using either DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5 brake fluid in the Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # K71-651. I cannot say for certain which type your actuator came with but you can mix them so it should not matter.

Hey Shane, for a Dexter A-60 coupler we do have a replacement manual lockout with the part #DX94FR. Your actuator should have came with one but it may have been misplaced.

DOT5 brake fluid is what you'd want to use in the Dexter surge actuator part #DX89FR. If the breakaway pin was pulled it would be replaceable. The breakaway cable is replaceable.
