Question:
Hello, I have a set of 5 15 X 5.5 split rim wheels that I am look to buy tires for. This type of wheel needs inner tube and inner tube protector. What tires would you recommend for this type of set up? Are they even available? Can I place tubeless tires for such a wheel? Regards,

Expert Reply:
For your split rims, you are going to need an inner tube and tire. We only carry tubeless tires therefore would not be able to provide you with any parts for your split rims and I cannot recommend using a tubeless tire. However, split rims are a thing of the past and no longer used today here in the U.S. The reason for this is because they are a huge safety risk and not worth their nostalgic value. It will also be difficult to find someone to mount them for you if you do not have the ability to do so yourself because the lack of knowledge people have handling them. Your average tire supply chain such as Firestone would more than likely not be able to mount the tires for you which is another reason you might want to consider switching to a modular one piece design. It would also not cost much more to replace the tire and wheel together as you do not have to pay or in your case, find someone to mount them for you.
If you would like to continue searching for a tube and tire assembly for your split-rims then I completely understand but if not, I suggest taking a look at the attached link which displays our single piece wheel and tire combos in a 6 on 5-1/2" lug pattern.
