hello, i am installing a brake controller on a 97 chevy k1500 pickup, my question is the color of the wire i hook the controller to on the brake light switch.

The wire you need runs from the top of the brake pedal to a bundle of wires under the steering column. What you need is a white wire that is bundled to an orange wire. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to confirm that the wire is getting 12v when the brake pedal is pressed.
