Is the strip long? Its a bit short because I want to use it on the down tube like the picture.

The Replacement ZipStrip Straps for Yakima Standard Bike Rack Cradles # Y8890297 that you referenced are the same length as the current ZipStrips you have on your bike rack. If you have a bike that has a thicker down tube the best option is to use a bike frame adapter like the part # UB01 which will give you a level and not-quite-as-thick tube for your bike rack to attach to.
