Troubleshooting RV Kwikee 32 Steps that Don't Work with Override Switch or Ignition

Question:

My dad has a 93 Pace Arrow and needed to replace the kwikee series 23 stairs. He purchased the LC372261 Lippert electric stairs and mounting kit. The stairs are only functioning while opening and closing the door. The wall mounted switch is not working and the ignition is not working. Any recommendations? Did He purchase the wrong stairs? It’s a two step model. Thank you

The Lippert Kwikee 32 Series Electric Step # LC372261 your Dad installed is supposed to extend and retract with the door opening like you said yours is doing as well as have an override switch to keep it extended. The ignition wire for this means that it will auto retract if you start the RV.

Since yours isn't working I'd recommend checking the wiring of the switch and step as there's most likely an issue there. I attached a wiring diagram I took from the install instructions for you to compare to your RV.
