The answer is wherever works best for you! Generally the Lend-a-Hand Folding Grab Handle # AM-200 is mounted on the exterior wall of an RV or trailer right next to the door opening. If you have a door that opens outward then you will want to place it on the side opposite of the door hinges. Otherwise you will not be able to use the handle when you open the door. I included a picture from another customer showing where they installed it
