Will Replacement Locking Knob # P1040 Fit Older Swagman XP Bike Rack
Updated 07/18/2018 | Published 07/17/2018 >
Question:
I am missing the keys for the locking knob for the XP bike rack. my locking knob clearly has number P1041 stamped on it and the non-locking knob has nothing stamped on it. your locking knob has P1041 stamped on it also based on the photo but you have the part number as P1040...what am i missing? my non-locking knob is wearing down from use and it looks like it may be cheaper to just buy two locking knobs but i want to be sure i get the correct one two?. thanks,

I honestly don't know why there is the slight number difference but I can say that if you have the Swagman Original or XP Series bicycle carrier and it is at least a 2009 or newer the Replacement Locking Knob # P1040 will fit. Sometimes manufacturers will slightly change the design of a part which could be what happened here.
This has been confirmed with Swagman and since we unfortunately don't have any replacement keys, replacing your locking knobs is your best bet.
