Mounting Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit
Updated 07/16/2018 | Published 07/13/2018 >
Question:
the instructions say to mount the shock with the upper bracket positioned so that the shock is leaning, pointing away from the equalizer, one of the answers I just read on here state to mount the other shock pointing the same way? The way I read the instructions one shock should be slanted to the rear away from equalizer, the other slanted towards the front away from equalizer. What is the reason for adding 2 inches to the measurement in the instructions. It seems that would eliminate most of the available extension? My shocks 281281 only have 4 7/8th inch travel, midpoint would be at 2 7/16. adding 2 inches only leaves 7/16 inch before full extension.

The Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit # LC281281 should have both shocks mounted pointing outwards, the same way, away from the equalizer. Adding two inches to the measurement is simply what Lippert deemed will give these shocks the best performance and ensure a proper angle. So long as you can fit these shocks and not exceed a 45 degree angle they should perform like you are wanting.
