Hello, I have a 2017 Platinum Explorer w/the factory installed cross bars. Ive looked on Thules website and also talked to a local dealer that says I would need to have the rails on the car swapped out for the flush rails in order to have Thule cross bars installed. I saw a question on your site regarding a 2018 Explorer and that theres a piece that will mount onto the factory fixed mounting points...will this same piece apply to my vehicle? Thanks so much for your help!

You would need to swap out the raised side rails for the factory flush side rails in order to install a roof rack on your 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum edition. In order to obtain the flush side rails you would want to reach out to your local dealer. The fixed mounting point you are referring to only applies to vehicles with the flush side rails which you do not have. I hope this helps.

You will then need # TH711420, # TH460R, and # THKIT3151.
