I do have an option for you, however the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12290 referenced in your question is not confirmed to fit your 2014 Subaru Legacy. This particular hitch is designed for certain model year Subaru Outback Wagons, as you noted, and it will also fit 2015-2018 models of the Subaru Legacy. It looks like there was a generation change after 2014 on the Legacy and the differences in the rear frame on the new generation allow this hitch to fit, but it will not work on your 2014 model.
For your Subaru Legacy, I instead recommend the Curt Class II Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C12298 if you want the 1-1/4 inch receiver opening or the Curt Class III # C13158 if you want a 2 inch receiver. Both hitches are confirmed to fit the 2014 Subaru Legacy.
I have attached the written installation instructions and a video on the Curt # C12298 that you can use for reference.
