Installation Time Estimate for Curt Hitch C13238 on 2018 Audi Q3

Question:
Ordered this hitch for my 2018 Audi Q3 and have been told it requires a lot more modification to fit it vs the instructions stated 45 mins professional to 90 minutes novice. My Audi/VW specialist just called and told me its 2-4 hour job. Has anyone else had this issues??

Curt Class III hitch # C13238 is a confirmed fit on your 2018 Audi Q3. On our main hitch page for your car, which is linked, we indicate an installation difficulty level of 10 out of 10, and an install time of about 1 hour 40 minutes. Curt's own instructions, which are linked for you, do indeed note 45-minutes estimated install time for an experienced installer and a similar 90-minutes for a first-time installer.
The installation steps do include enlarging some attachment holes, lowering of the exhaust and trimming of the heat shield. These same steps are often required to install a hitch on a passenger vehicle.
The estimate of 4 hours to install this seems to be a bit on the high side for a mechanic with hitch installation experience. We do not yet have an install video for this item on your same car but I linked a hitch video showing a 2018 Q5 which may be helpful to your installer.
